OUR TRADITIONAL GAMES

We are working to continue uplifting community-led efforts to continue revitalizing traditional games.

Our work to promote traditional games across five centers is guided by local community leadership and cultural respect.

Rather than applying a single model, each site follows the direction of local knowledge holders, creating spaces where games are shared in ways that reflect community-specific traditions. This includes honoring the distinct roles of Toka and Ṣ-oñguiwul in our Himdag, ensuring these practices are upheld appropriately in each setting.

All tournaments are hosted by the community for the community.

Toka brings together women from across communities in a powerful expression of skill, connection, and tradition. where relationships are strengthened, knowledge is shared, and community pride is carried forward. Come witness the strength, support the players, and be part of a meaningful and memorable experience.

OUR ELDER 55 AND OVER

At the Tohono O’odham Nation Recreation Division, we’re committed to creating opportunities that keep our elders active, engaged, and connected to one another.

Our programs are built with care and purpose—offering spaces where elders can move their bodies, share time together, and strengthen the bonds that hold our community strong. Whether it’s through sports like chair volleyball or other activities, we focus on supporting both physical well-being and meaningful relationships.
